The Canary Bird Cage

Choose the largest cage depending on your budget and space if you are an owner of a canary and you intend to keep it at home inside of a cage. We call these cages “flight cages”. Two kinds of big cages are known: made for large birds and made for small birds which have thin bars, spaced closely together because if they are spaced too wide, there is a chance a small bird to get his head between the bars.
The material of the cage should be metal or a combination of metal and plastic. Wooden cages are not proper as because wood can harbor bacteria and become moist. There are also acrylic cages but then you have to keep it clean all the time because in a cage doesn’t have good ventilation there is an opportunity that moisture can build up .Avoid metal cages with decorative scrollwork, as they can catch a toe or wing. Choose simple cages, whose bars are evenly spaced. The floor should have a removable metal grate, otherwise you have to clean the cage more often because your canary could get into his waste, which isn’t healthy.

  1. There is some disagreement to what you have said concerning woodedn cages . I have seen canaries from Europe ,Mexico , China , Indonesia , etc. raised in wooden bird cages their whole lives & are in full health . The key is a loving owner who takes the time to actually care for the birds . I have seen canaries in the U.S. raised in the " modern " style bird cages & still look like they were bathing in their own excrement !
